FIRST DAY OF CLASS
In my first day of class I was rushing from one place to another in order to get on time to every place I needed to go, first at school and now at the university. This is a really nice opportunity to have, because this will expand my proffesional expectations and also my personal boundaries towards teaching a language, specially the English language. There is a lot to see and to do, I have great expectations about the whole course and my classmates, from whom I want to learn a lot. I excuse myself if I speak too much in class, That is just the way I am and sometimes I have to control myself with my very own students, because I KNOW that teachers should not speak too much but encourage their students to speak. Let's see what happens tomorrow so I will keep you updated.

LUDIC ACTIVITIES IN THE CLASSROOM
Ludic actvities, funny accesories along with an environment well set and prepared can help A LOT to lower the emotional filter to engage the students into Language learning
Summer course computer activity

Graphic activity to be used with primary and high school
Multiple Intelligence Test

It is important to have reliable support like tests and surveys that can tell us who our students are, because we don't have robots.... we have in every student a different world, so we must bear in mind that every person has different strengths and weaknesses that finally become tools for us the teachers so we can focus better in each individual to have more personal work with him or her.

Hi Oscar,
Teacher talking time (TTT) vs. student talking time (STT) has been a big issue in language teaching and there are some research studies that measure these variables. Within the communicative approaches to ELT, we've been told, as you mention, that TTT should not exceed STT, so we can really provide opportunities for students' language develoment. My thought is that could be true for intermediate and upper levels. But with beginners, when students need a lot of exposure to the language so they transform the input received into intake, their knowldge of the language, I think the teacher can be a good source of that input.
This link has interesting information on this issue:

Hi Oscar...
I hope you had a nice weekend. I just want to greet you and wish we can learn together many things in this course, so as teachers we can improve our daily routine.
See you tomorrow,
Natalia
Hi Oscar it's really nice to share our pedagogical experiences and the different points of view about English teaching and also to have the opportunity to practice together the English. After this class, I'am really worried about the MEN's bilinguism program ' cause it is thought for public school but as we can see today there are not sources, teachers and the worst part is the colombian goverment just comes out a project focused on another context...Can we do something for that?
bye see you on tuesday..
Hi Oscar,
As I read your post about your inspiring teacher, I see that you've understood well that our role as teachers does not end in the teaching of the language system, try to develop communicative competence in our students, or just to give out information -which in fact students cand easily find in many different places and sources-. Our job is to inspire others as you were inspired by John.
I absolutelly agree with you, aour students are alll different, they come to class with many expectations and different interests, somatimes they don´t know how to engage their wishes with the class plans ,most of time, given by the teacher. They can hardly recognize what´s the best way for learning english. We have treasures in our hands, the only thing we have to do it´s to open the door and admire ho many valuable skills we can find in every singular person. Allaour students could be genious, by their own. we have to be the switches to light their brains. Maybe, we can find that apply Multiple Intelligences in our classroom is an utopia, but if we try to explore , you can face how active and interesting your classes can be.
Oscar,
I can't post comments in your other entries... Can you check and see if by any chance you selected the option of "No permitir" in "Comentarios de los Lectores" -"Opciones de entrada" (at the end of the new entry box)
